Over 150 sangam women from 40 villages gathered at Zahirabad to celebrate the International Women’s Day in Zahirabad and DDS-KVK at Didigi village. The women first rallied with songs and chants on women’s rights and agriculture from Canara Bank to Cafe Green Ethnic in Zahirabad town.
Later, the women came together at DDS-KVK, Didigi for a meeting where Shri Nirmala Reddy, chairperson of Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited attended as chief guest. Dr Swati Tiwari and Shri C Uday Bhaskar, Deputy General Managers from NABARD Hyderabad also graced the occasion. On this occasion, Ms Nirmala Reddy said “Women are at the forefront of agriculture but often only men are seen in the market. Women should take on more entrepreneurial roles and come forward.” The guests and sangam women celebrated by cutting a millet cake together to commemorate the day. After the meeting and lunch, Sangham women came together to play a few fun games that lifted everyone’s spirits.
